Do I need an appointment?

STI Testing

For STI testing, if you’re looking for a regular check-up, you don’t need an appointment, order an STI test kit to use at home, or walk into 56 Dean Street to pick one up from reception.

You only need to make an appointment if you have been in contact with certain STIs or you have symptoms. Most results are texted within 24 hours.

These symptoms are very likely to be an STI. We need to see you.

  • Discharge from the penis or anus
  • Discomfort or pain in the penis when passing urine
  • Ulcer or painful blisters in the genital area

Our team goes above and beyond to reach those most at risk. Many of our important campaigns and projects are kindly funded by the community. With your help we can support the vulnerable.

Window periods

An STI test may miss an infection that has been caught very recently. This is called the ‘window period’. If you’ve been exposed to an infection, we will offer you treatment at your booked appointment if we see you during this window period. Otherwise, we’ll wait for the results.

Gonorrhoea 2 weeks
Chlamydia 2 weeks
Syphilis 6 weeks
HIV 6 weeks
